Release Date: December 6, 2011 The Black Keys are in a groove. Fresh off their newfound relevance with their 2010 album, Brothers, and its subsequent tour, Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach decided to go into the recording studio this year with nothing written and nothing planned, besides having the same producer (Danger Mouse). While this may seem like a dangerous idea, El Camino proves that with this blues-rock duo, spontaneity can prove successful. “Lonely Boy,” the first single from the album, which was released through an incredibly entertaining music video, begins the album with a crunchy riff and Dan Auerbach’s bluesy voice, both of which are plenty on the remainder of the record. They continue this groove for the entire album. “Sister” and “Run Right Back” is your standard Black Keys material, each with its own special kick. The former has such a great, toe-tapping rhythm and fuzzy guitar that just mesmerizes the listener, while the latter runs on a consistent, awesome riff that acts more like a bass line.
